Why does the cement industry use alternative fuels?

Manufacturing cement requires large volumes of fuel. Cementa is striving as far as possible to reduce its dependence on and the use of fossil fuels by replacing them with alternative fuels manufactured from residual products.

It is primarily coal and other fossil fuels that are used, but increased environmental awareness, tougher environmental demands and rising fuel costs have led to a greater focus on the use of alternative fuels.
